SRER KHMER is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the development of farmer-led environmentally sound agriculture.
SRER KHMER was established in December 2001, with the assistance of FAO, to complement government and NGO initiatives in community based Integrated Pest Management (IPM). IPM farmer Field Schools are a proven approach to ecological learning. SRER KHMER has sprung from the need to build on these initiatives and facilitate the work of IPM training by farmers.
SRER KHMER has taken the basic principles of IPM training and implemented a more comprehensive platform of farmer-led activities. As part of a more holistic training, we combine social issues and crop production in our programs. Poverty issues (e.g. HIV/AIDS, landlessness) and marginalized groups receive special attention.
SRER KHMER promotes, facilitates and provides training in the following areas:
- Farmer Action Research
- Farmer trainers refresher courses
- Farmer centered learning through Farmer Field Schools
- On farmer experimentation by farmers
- Ecological education programs for rural children.
- Farmer Life Schools
